Social groups

I see children with their parents individually initially in order to do an assessment and introduce some strategies. Then whenever possible I match children in groups based on their ability, age, gender and location.

Social groups* use Social Thinking® concepts, curricula and materials as the primary teaching methodology upon which the program is based.

Groups take place in families’ homes, providing a natural environment and opportunities for play and friendships. Parents and grandparents often participate in groups and follow up on concepts at home, which encourages generalization and has been instrumental in helping children succeed.

Groups are tailored to the specific needs of each child and build on the children’s skills over time.  Groups typically consist of two or three children.
